GA and Horsey are driving our former temporary boss nuts.

He’s old school news and hates bloggers.

Using are then-new writer, he went after them in the spring, and utterly failed to put them in their place. That prompted both of them – especially GA – to come back at him, humiliating him at a time when I think he was trying to show off for her, when he was playing mentor to her.

Both bloggers know way too much about what goes on inside our office, and even now when she is no longer working for us, they hint about things even I don’t know about.

GA, who I occasionally talk to, won’t tell me who her source is – but it is clearly someone who is deep in the secrets of our office and is willing to spill them.

Our former temporary boss is desperate to get even with them, but has been hesitant to put himself out front, perhaps fearing what the bloggers might post about him.

He isn’t the upfront kind of guy and prefers to work behind a curtain of his writers, as if that might protect him.

He certainly doesn’t know bloggers very well. They got for the jugular and may well know how badly they made him look in the eyes of the writer he was mentoring last spring.

Even the male owner kept asking where the hard-hitting anti-blogger story was that our then temporary boss kept promising.

Our temporary boss blamed the writer (who has since moved on from our employ), but it’s more than that. He just couldn’t pull the trigger.

GA says she knows a lot more than she’s posted but is saving it for some future time to surprise everybody.

She won’t even hint about what it is, except that it involves our Former Temporary Boss and the male owner.

I have not brought this news back to our former temporary boss, afraid he might go out of his mind with worry.

He doesn’t work well with the new female writer who took over in hometown where both bloggers live and seems less confident, he can go after the bloggers and still maintain his cover.

But I suspect he’s merely waiting for the opportunity to strike back, as well as he isn’t exposed when he does.

Waking up to Obama Wednesday, January 04, 2012

              I went to sleep and woke up this morning to the Iowa Caucuses, a relentless reminder of not how much choice we actually have in the upcoming election, but how little a field of choice we have.             On one side, we have President Obama – whose biggest contribution to America over the last four years has been to kill Bin Laden, and bring down the government of Libya , and cause even more turmoil over seas, while allowing secret government operatives even more control over the private lives of American citizens.             Instead of socialized medicine, he’s given us a new tax.             Instead of tax cuts for the middle class, he’s imposed new fees on potential home owners.          ...

The parking man can March 16, 2012

  Sunlight gleams off the bright glass this cool Hudson County morning. It feels like fall, but it is not fall. It is the end of winter and the leaves have already turned and fallen and are preparing their triumphant return. Some old leaves have found their way down onto street where they are whisked up by the persistent brushes of the street sweeper. Each morning, it is the same ritual of waiting for the parking man and his ticket book to arrive and pass, the sound of the brushes brushing against this asphalt world, morning music we all come to live through, as the parking man’s van beeps out its warning for us to move or pay the price, while we switch sides as he passes, and thus wisely, learn to escape his wrath.       2012 menu email to Al Sullivan
